Tállya-based young winemaker Dorka Homoky (25) was awarded the Winemaker of Winemakers' Scholarship 2018. The award comes with a serious prize money, as well as an opportunity to gain harvest experience at any of the Winemaker of Winemakers candidates and awardees to date. She received the award at Winemaker of Winemakers' gala dinner at Hotel Boscolo in Budapest on 20th April.
With a degree in film, Dorka eventually decided to return to her home her family has been making wine in Tállya for decades, she left behind create her own brand within the family. Her first vintage was 2013.
The Winemaker of Winemakers Award was established in 2007 by marketing professional, media personality and winery owner Pál Rókusfalvy. The selection process is fairly straightforward; previous winners of the award select 50 candidates who then choose the winner from among themselves through two rounds of voting.
