0

More than 130 entries came in for the 2016 Tokaj-Hétszőlő Extreme Uphill Running Race, over double the number that ran in the first 2015 race. The course was a mere 1400 metres in length but with a climb of close to 200 metres, from the lowest part of the historical Hétszőlő vineyard site to the top of Kis-Garai. This year's overall winner was Lajos Kovács, who only needed 8:27 minutes to complete the 1.4-kilometre course, less than 7 seconds ahead of the 2015 winner Gyula Matók, who still broke his own record by 10 seconds. Gyula Fekete, the local PE teacher who had thought up the race last year, came in a strong 25th position, some two-and-a-half minutes behind the winner.
